In the GLI program, participating organizations will work with and benefit from the excellent resources available through these experts and institutions. 

 

  •  Consultant Paul Van Dolah

Paul Van Dolah, principal of Van Dolah & Associates, has worked with the Foundation to guide development of GLI and will participate in GLI’s Kickoff Program. Paul has 25 years experience in strategic and financial planning, and organizational and systems development. He is recognized for his ability to help organizations define their strategic issues, and construct creative, custom solutions. Paul was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Rady Children’s Hospital and Health Care Center, San Diego for 15 years through 2003. He is a well-respected consultant to many nonprofits and serves on the faculty of the University of San Diego.

 

  • Advisor Dr. Jeffrey R. Solomon

Dr. Jeffrey R. Solomon, president of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, has consulted with Foundation CEO Marjory Kaplan on the development of GLI and will participate in GLI’s Kickoff Program. Among the Bronfman Philanthropies innovative programs are Taglit-Birthright Israel and Reboot, initiatives that connect young, assimilated Jews to their tradition. He previously served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of UJA-Federation of New York. An author of 70 publications, he serves as adjunct associate professor at New York University and sits on numerous nonprofit and foundation boards including the Council on Foundations.

 

University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Leadership and Management Program educates nonprofit community leaders through academic excellence, applied learning and research. GLI organizations will participate in NLMP’s annual Institute for Nonprofit Governance.

 

 

Nonprofit Management Solutions is the chief provider of management and technology consulting, training, and information resources to nonprofit organizations in San Diego. GLI organizations will have the opportunity to participate in NMS governance training workshops.

 

 

 

GLI participants will receive a complimentary membership in BoardSource, a nationally recognized organization that increases the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening boards of directors through its acclaimed consulting practice, publications, tools, and membership program.
